Spotlight on Eastern designers with Atelier India 2018, exclusively at Robinsons

This season, Robinsons brings Indian fashion to the spotlight with a range of exclusive, handcrafted designs through a collaboration with four incredible Indian designers. Atelier India, a selection of haute couture pieces by designers Rohit Bal, Rajesh Pratap, Shantanu & Nikhil and Raghavendra Rathore, will be available exclusively at the Robinsons Department Store on the first floor, from 27th September 2018 until 20th October 2018. The showcase will include pieces specifically tailor made by these designers for the UAE market and only available at Robinsons.

The exclusive atelier concept, brought alive by Robinsons, began with the store’s passion for offering the unique and unmissable to customers. The Robinsons team traveled to India to meet the designers, immersing themselves in the design process and creation of the pieces. Inspired by each designer’s commitment to offering one-of-a-kind, bespoke pieces, they bring the best of ethnic style to Dubai’s discerning shopper.

“Atelier India was an inspired idea for us. Most designers are tired of the usual trunk shows and exhibitions. Robinsons offers a luxurious space for the designers to showcase their creations, and we are pleased to offer an exclusive line of handpicked pieces that bring an unprecedented level of luxury for our clientele,” says Adosh Sharma, General Manager of Robinsons, about his vision to change the face of Indian fashion in Dubai.

Through the design process, Robinsons, along with the designers, tell the story of a pure, majestic, vibrant and revolutionary India, and the collections are themed on the aspirational and inspirational beauty of Indian culture and tradition. By directly collaborating with Robinsons from the fabric manufacturing through to the final collections, each designer touches on the themes in a unique way to create pieces that tell a story through textile, color, heritage and cuts.

Rohit Bal:

Bal uses his design as a vibrant art form to express his inspiration drawing from history, fantasy and folklore.

Rajesh Pratap:

A purist with a unique signature style that draws from his Indian roots to craft artisanal garments with faultlessly clean lines, careful detailing and international silhouettes.

Shantanu & Nikhil:

The duo is revolutionary with their combination of vintage and contemporary to create pieces that symbolize progressivism and distinctiveness.

Raghavendra Rathore:

Rathore explores the heritage clothing and its importance to create majestic pieces.

Atelier India was unveiled to the UAE’s fashion-forward elite, offering them a first look at the creations. The designers themselves were present at the event to share their inspiration behind each piece and offer insights into the creation of each item.

The exclusive Atelier India capsule collection will only be available for a limited time at the Robinsons Department Store, first floor, in Dubai Festival City Mall from September 27th, 2018 until October 20th, 2018.

About Robinsons Department Store

Founded in 1858 by John Spicer and Philip Robinson, Robinsons Department Store is one of the most iconic retail landmarks in Singapore. Operated by the Dubai, UAE-based Al Futtaim Retail Group since 2008, Robinsons has since become one of the best performing department stores in southeast Asia.

In March 2017, the Al Futtaim Retail Group celebrated the opening of Robinsons Department Store in Dubai Festival City Mall. At 200,000 sq ft, it is the largest department store in the UAE; it is also one of the country’s most unique retail establishments, thanks in part to a stunning green wall of living plants that was created by designer Patrick Blanc as a nod to Robinsons’ Singaporean heritage.

Robinsons has quickly made a name for itself among discerning shoppers, thanks to three floors of covetable offerings. Beauty lovers flock to the Ground floor, which stocks a stunning array of more than 85 skincare, makeup and fragrance brands. Home to many familiar labels such as Alexander Wang and Kate Spade, Robinsons also carries more than 90 exclusive fashion brands, including AAPE and Louis Quatorze. The second floor also offers the UK’s most loved and trusted brand, John Lewis, which can only be found in Robinsons.

A true lifestyle destination, Robinsons has recently opened the Profile Aveda Lifestyle Salon on the First floor, and proudly features three tempting F&B outlets: Big Fernand, Wild & The Moon, and Origami. From fashion and home to wellbeing and dining (and much more in between), Robinsons Department Store in Festival City Mall offers an immersive experience that sets the bar for retail in the Middle East.

Kate Spade New York Spring 2018 collection

2018 marks kate spade new york’s 25th anniversary, and to celebrate, we’re taking a joyful adventure — a year-long road trip across america. spring 2018 is inspired by the warmth of southern charm, particularly the sights, sounds and welcoming energy of new orleans. the magnificent flora and fauna in the garden district embracing glamorous estates suspended in time; the playful sounds of jazz spilling out of dance halls onto the streets of the french quarter, where the good times always roll; and the expanse of possibilities traveling up the mississippi, onto the next adventure…

ready-to-wear

in a palette of soft dusky pink, strawberry and denim-blue hues, along with touches of green from verdigris to spanish moss—prim silhouettes, sharp tailoring and athletic styles define the collection. ladylike, high-neck dresses and blouses capture the southern spirit, done in billowy botanical-print chiffon or vintage-y lace with embroidered butterflies fluttering about. flouncy, peplum tops feature eyelet or pintuck details, and sit alongside culottes and cropped denim for a fancy-casual look. a shirred, off-the-shoulder dress and top in muted gingham capture a folky, bohemian spirit. oversized trench coats with playful embroidery and twill ponchos round out the outerwear, while sporty styles from track jackets to hoodies embrace new orleans’ relaxed vibe. the collection’s mix-and-match effect lends it to unexpected styling twists and turns—much like our road trip.

it’s back: the sam handbag

as we rediscover the diverse array of what makes america so beautiful, we’re thrilled to reintroduce sam, our original handbag from 1993. you’ll see her reimagined in a variety of forms that represent our brand over the past 25 years, beginning with black and white stripes, botanical prints and satin, then moving on to wicker, denim, quilted leather and printed canvas.

handbags

the return of our iconic sam handbag is the big news of the season, joined by the carter street kylie, a micro tote crafted in buttery, pebbled leather. novelty handbags and accessories get a warm-weather update. a strawberry-carton bag is a standout, as is a wicker picnic basket with a sweet charm, and an alligator shaped bag—a ferociously fun nod to new orleans wildlife.

madison ave.

beautiful blooms blossom on the season’s silhouettes: from a sleeveless, fit-and-flare cocktail dress with intricate embroidery to handbags adorned in leather applique. a tailored blazer and pant suit in black and cream check capture the spirit of the southern gentleman and sit alongside silky, feminine blouses. a cameo dress in dusky pink with black flowers and lace conjure up images of our lady sipping peach iced tea on a terrace, magnolias in bloom and butterflies fluttering by…

shoes

shower slides, reimagined with glimmering, golden floral applique or white wicker-like leather, are seen throughout the collection. while sparkling medallions, butterflies and magnolia motifs adorn mules, slingbacks, kitten heels and pointy-toe flats. slip-on sneakers done in woven leather, or floral embroidery with ruffle trim, round out the sporty charm.

jewelry

earrings are a focus, with styles ranging from everyday studs to statement pieces. fine gold metalwork and creamy pearls define a delicate butterfly pair of studs, as well as an assortment of lavish blooming chandelier earrings. a collection of molded disc earrings is understatedly masculine, while black pearl stunners with darling gingham bows are decidedly feminine.

sleepwear

the spring sleepwear collection is defined by snuggly cotton and silk tops, pant and short sets, robes, rompers and sleep shirts in signature colors, cozy prints and quippy idioms.

athleisure

high-performance fabrics engineered for movement and functional silhouettes ground the collection. core pieces include a scalloped sports bra, zip-up and leggings, and an unbrushed terry tracksuit with a feminine ruffle finish. cheeky idioms, stripes, polka dots and botanical prints work their way onto french terry sweatshirts and windbreakers. a pair of leggings and a track suit in quick-drying jersey feature laser cut blossom detail.

make it mine: personalization

with a nod to the season’s inspiration, personalization continues to be paramount to diversifying our handbag collection. new flaps featuring black and white stripes, our magnolia motif and botanical prints can be worn with alexa, camila and byrdie, creating a one-of-a-kind look.

Sandro SS18 collection

For the Spring-Summer 2018 season, the Sandro woman flourishes in multiple inspirations and audacious games of contrast, between a manifest floral presence and an androgynous aspiration spiced with Cuban rhythms. She freely composes a resolutely feminine look and opens the way to new aesthetic paths.

It all begins with colour, the unconscious starting point of the season. With the daylight lengthening, the longing is for tender pink, sky blue, anise yellow and light beige. The palette extends to more intense shades such as deep blue or pine green and composes a real f lower garden. Spontaneously, the f lowers become obvious and bloom over the collection. They blossom on blouses, dresses and combinations. They unfold like light chains on silks and summer cottons. Elaborated with retro accents, they are reminiscent of the free and wild American rockers’ prints from the 70’s. However, far from the artificial paradises, these are made for truly real desires.

To this floral atmosphere, Evelyne Chetrite confronts the masculine American sportswear and work-wear codes. At first, they were thought out to protect and even exaggerate masculinity, but here they reveal the woman. The suit trousers are ubiquitous but elaborated in light cotton and soft hues. The darted trousers are sharply cut at the ankles. The jackets are adjusted with suppleness. Severity is not the rule, either that of Wall Street bankers, or that of the workers, who see their work jumpsuits tinged in tender pink or imagined in an intense purple short dress version. From the American football players are borrowed the lacing plays that are applied to the sleeves of a suit jacket or to the deep cleavage of a knit tank top. The training jerseys are pinched and twisted into an off-white sweater with a deep V-neck.

As if to spice up the summer, the atmosphere of an old-fashioned Havana gives rhythm to the collection. Pearly beads boldly display the name of Cuba on denims and shirts. Vintage fashion t-shirts are f locked with «Made In Cuba». Zigzags are drawn on a green and yellow mesh dress. Above all, everything is blended freely, with strength and conviction. An immaculate lace dress is combined with a business-stripped, cotton-cut babydoll. A trench coat is associated with striped tracksuit bottoms. A button dress is transformed into a supple kimono, and worn over a bra and subtle black trousers.

For the Sandro Woman, it is by distorting the codes that she can explore her own style. All associations are possible as long as they are owned.

Marc Jacobs Resort 2018 Collection

Centered around the idea of movement, the Marc Jacobs Resort 2018 collection features classic silhouettes embellished with fringe, beads, tassels and pom-poms. A color palette of pastel blue, lilac and yellow with pops of red and black, create a light and airy feel to the 1960’s inspired RTW. Cocktail dresses are a focus, in duchess satin with matching beaded trim and crepe de chine with silk fringe embroidery. Sheer organza overlays on sleeveless dresses, shell tops and pin-tuck blouses play to the lighter mood of the season, while vintage inspired lace, bows and beaded collars, are made modern paired with cropped jackets and a classic trench coat. Crystal trimmed denim and an oversized nylon bomber jacket, add a casual spirit to the refined classic looks.

Classic Marc Jacobs bag shapes get a seasonal flair for Resort, offered in smaller variations with embellishments seen in the RTW collection. The Mini Grind and Little Bigshot are smaller versions of their predecessors from the FW17 collection shown in brighter colors with pom-pom and fringe embroidery. A smaller version of the classic Sling bag, the Mini Sling is a key to the collection, offered in classic colors as well as an embellished damask print. The Snapshot continues to be a focus, in new color block variations with complimenting printed straps. Footwear takes a cue from the bags, with iconic Marc Jacobs shapes in new colors and materials. Pointed kitten heels and modest mary-janes offer a refined and feminine look.

Max Mara coats!

To celebrate the new edition of Max Mara Coats! Seoul, a special look has been designed. A coat in pure camel’s hair with brass colour lining, and in the same fabric, a shirt with crystal buttons and French cuffs and pencil skirt. This brass colour is inspired by yughee, precious Korean tableware, used by the royal family and passed from generation to generation. Like camel to Max Mara, yughee represents the importance of tradition and quality in Korean culture.

Max Mara Fall / Winter 2017

The Max Mara Atelier collection is a special project focused on coats, a design division dedicated to experimenting with this iconic fashion item.

The Fall/Winter 2017 collection explores the heritage of the Max Mara coat, which is reimagined with a new paradigm of geometry. The careful and passionate study of volumes is reflected in silhouettes and shapes that delicately balance between a harmony of geometric figures and the exploration of informal beauty, perfectly imperfect by definition.

Double fabrics in rich alpaca, cashmere or pure camel are the most noble of fibers that are treated and transformed as if they were a living and vibrant matter, in a genesis that stops time. Earthy hues and primordial shades make up the natural palette: kaolin white, concrete, clay, iron and wood, combustion and rust.

Max Mara Atelier is a collection specially designed for women with character, confidence and style that evokes the concept that real beauty means being yourself.
