The Canvas Hotel Dubai MGallery by Sofitel Opens in Bur Dubai 

Located in the heart of Bur Dubai’s Port Rashid area, The Canvas Hotel Dubai MGallery by Sofitel has opened its doors for guests. The name of the five-star hotel was chosen in homage to the way the city of Dubai has developed, transforming from the ‘blank canvas’ of the desert sands into a glittering metropolis, a global destination fusing east and west, that has become a beacon for travellers and explorers from all over the world.

The 164-key hotel is ideal for leisure and business travellers due to its proximity to Dubai International Airport, Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai Mall and other popular attractions such as the Creek, Gold Souk, La Mer and Al Seef.

The hotel’s décor is a combination of classic elegance with modern contemporary European design and warm colours to create a relaxing atmosphere. Alongside, the lobby has an impressive sculpture made of polished steel, reflecting MGallery’s focus on literature and culture. The art piece has been crafted by Helidon Xhixha as part of his ‘Light Series’ collection.

The hotel’s spacious, well-appointed rooms are classified as Classic, Superior and Executive, while the suites are offered in Junior, Deluxe, Executive, and the generous Presidential Duplex Suite. All guests selecting suites get all-day access to the Executive Lounge, use of meeting room for two hours, pillow menu, aroma menu and early check-in and late check-out among other facilities. Complimentary WiFi is available throughout the property.

The Canvas Hotel MGallery has dining options to suit all palates and features; and is home to Indian celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor’s restaurant, Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor, serving a fine dining twist with authentic Indian flavours for a gastronomic experience. Plans are already underway to move Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor to a new, larger space in the hotel’s main lobby.

In addition to this, guests can enjoy an extensive buffet at the all-day-dining venue, Azalya, or unwind with a glass as they take in a different view of Dubai’s skyline at Estrellas Rooftop Lounge. Sports aficionados can catch the latest gaming action live at the hotel’s opened sports lounge, Quantum. Hilton Al Hamra Beach and Golf Resort

The best way to spend your summer specially if you don’t have any travel plans is being a tourist in the country you live in. The UAE is known around the world as an ultimate tourist destination. With it’s seven Emirates that has perfect touristic resorts, my favourite has always been the Emirates of Ras Al Khaimah.

This summer our plan is to visit a resort each weekend in the UAE and the first one we tried was Hilton Al Hamra Beach and Golf Resort. 

It took us exactly an hour and five minutes to reach the resort from where we stay in Barsha Heights.

The resort has a sprawling private beach with breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf and the Hajjar Mountains, an 18-hole championship golf course and beautifully landscaped gardens with easy access to surrounding shopping malls.

When we entered the lobby it was very obvious that the hotel had a lot of guests, not only locals but a lot of tourists from Europe came to spend a relaxing holiday despite the hot weather. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and the check-in was easy and smooth. Then we were carried by the buggy car to the villa where we stayed for one night.

Our room:

We were spoiled to stay in a luxurious and spacious suite with sea view and a large balcony that made us enjoy the sparkling horizon as the sun made its descent.

The Arabian-themed rooms with blue, gold and brown colours immediately made us feel it’s special intimate atmosphere like being in your own home. Each detail has been passionately chosen and the room had everything we needed (blow-dry, iron,etc). Also treats in the room were waiting for us when we entered.

Dinner:

There are six dining choices to choose from but we wanted to dine in the Trader Vic’s Mai Tai Lounge. Our choice of food and drinks were from the best sellers in the menu and as recommended by our server. We had Malayan prawn skewers, crispy prawn maki and Tom Yum soup as starters. Our mains were Mai tiki lamb chops and beef & beef. All the dishes were quiet generous and tasty.

We had our breakfast in the all day dining restaurant Al Jazeera where my husband enjoyed having his English breakfast while I was indulging in the tasty arabic foul.

Activities:

As it was too hot and humid outside we had a quick morning swim in the hotel’s pool before we had to check in. But in my next visit I will explore the other dining options and will definitely try the spa.

What I liked at Hilton Al Hamra Beach and Golf Resort mostly:

  • It is a beachside retreat that offers fun in the sun for families
  • The greenery you see everywhere 
  • The variety of dining options.
  • The different activities it has for the adults as well as for the kids.

Club Level Guest Rooms and Suites

The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal features 447 luxury suites and guestrooms, as well as 85 villas. Inspired by the 15th to early 17th century Renaissance architecture and the urban planning of the city of Venice, the villa hotel consists of ten stately buildings arranged in a crescent formation, completed with artfully designed water features and manicured gardens throughout the 230,670 square metre (57 acre) property. Enjoy magnificent views of the illustrious Grand Canal, stately gardens or breathtaking Grand Mosque as you step onto the outdoor terraces featured in all of the villas in Abu Dhabi.

Experience

This hotel was spacious and beautiful with high quality materials and workmanship. The building curves around a large landscaped garden and pool area and is styled like the grand buildings in Venice. Our room had a large King bed with plenty of room for a sitting area and work desk. The bathroom was beautiful with a large tub and separate shower and a separate toilet stall. The tub features frosted glass doors that fold open to the rest of the room and allow views out the spacious sliding doors to the balcony overlooking the garden and pool. The balcony is large and a pleasant spot to enjoy the views. The Royal Suite will be the most expensive suite in the hotel at AED18,000 per night. There has already been a keen interest in this suite with enquiries from people wanting to rent it out for a year. The hotel has declined these requests as they want guests to use the room.There was a large closet with an ironing board and shoe cupboard, and the dresser in the room had plenty of storage, in addition to the minibar and safe.

The pool was beautiful and the service is remarkable. There’s a decent menu of food and drinks to choose from, and they deliver it to you on a bike. The swimming pool is 57m in length with an area of 1,600sqm. It contains approximately 50,000 litres of water and the mosaic design on the bottom of the pool was from a design that the president of Ritz-Carlton saw on a fabric in Italy. The 350sqm beach area is formed with local sand from the existing beach locally.

The Forge, the hotel’s steakhouse, got its name from the steak knives that they will be using. The six knives were handmade in the Forge at Laguiole, France and are some of the best in the world. Taking its name from the intricate process of forging or shaping a high quality steak knife blade, the signature steak house is serving specialty cuisine in a stylish and contemporary setting paired with the world’s finest wines. Private dining rooms and a variety of seating options provide the ultimate dining experience. The Forge may well be crowned the best steakhouse in the UAE. The ambience is perfect with plenty of niches so that you are hardly aware of other diners. The services sparkles with military timing and a dash of theatrical flair. The uniforms are smart and modern just like the interior of this uber cool restaurant. The service was excellent and everyone was very eager to help.

Luxurious spa

The all-encompassing ESPA at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal occupies a 2,000-square-metre (21,500 square foot) beachfront standalone building and provides holistic rejuvenation and relaxation in a serene, meditative setting. Taking inspiration in traditional Bedouin culture and their use of colours, textures and most notably their metal works in jewelry, the ESPA spa takes the guests on a journey intotranquility. In addition to 16 luxuriously appointed treatment rooms, guests can enjoy separate female and male outdoor areas and their perfectly manicured lush greenery that bring respite during summer months and offer a private oasis, complete with its own plunge pool and waterfall. A pristine private beach is reserved for the use of spa guests only, and they can also take advantage of the resort’s striking scene-stealer, the massive 1,600-square-metre (17,222 square foot) outdoor swimming pool.

This resort is a luxurious place to stay and definitely one of the best I have stayed in.
