CHARLES & KEITH is pleased to present an exclusive Winter and Holiday 2017 media presentation at Warehouse 42 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Taking inspiration from the ideas, aesthetics and values of pop-culture and postmodern films, the Fall Winter season carries an abstract mixture of highly stylised visuals with vivid contrasts that is iconic to pop culture and post modernism, with an intense fondness for the 50s.
Unveiling the chapters of a story-within-a-story in a theatre setting, the collection is showcased in four distinctive zones, based on each thematic collection.
Reminiscent of the 50s and 60s, the aesthetic sensibility of The Travellers’ Tale is inspired from an off kilter colour palette of retro hues that emits a quirky old school splendour. Fusing various vintage influences into the products, the collection features double buckle mary-janes, ankle booties, fur lined mules, embroidered loafers. Bags include a boxy push-lock bag and push-lock satchel bag.
Pretty in Pink puts the spotlight on intricate floral embroidery and sequins detailing. Depicting elements of embroidery and geometrical patterns, the theme accentuates the soft pastel hues of the collection and evokes a delicate sense of femininity. Standout styles include T-Bar pumps, bow detail platform pumps, embellished open-toe mules, embellished ankle boots and ankle strap sandals. Bags comprise of embellished drawstring bag, top handle handbag and textured half-moon cross body bag.
Taking cues from the vanity dressing table of an indie-movie starlet, Cinematic Fancy Mischief exhibits a polished space typical of a conventional lighted vanity table while minimalistic furnishings complete the room of the new-age actress with minimal fuss. Featured in the display are bow detail thong sandals, embellished buckle platform heels, textured slip-on flats, turn-lock clutch and chain top handle handbag.
Brought to life with confetti balloons and white furnishings, the Holiday 2017 collection showcases the animated aesthetic of the collection in a spirited display of celebratory mood in the playful room. The curated collection of faux fur, glitters and strong hues of reds, accessorised by gold hardware embraces the holiday spirit and conjures a world of make-believe.
Distinguished guests were treated to the classic traditional movie concessions and retro candies, providing the presentation with an idiosyncratic cinematic experience. Dubai-based artist and fashion illustrator, Sara Japanwalla will also be on site to customize tote bags for the invited guests.
